Bedford International Kite Festival Russell Park on Saturday 5th-Sunday 6th June 2010
A big thank you to all our guests from the UK and across the world for another fantastic memorable Kite Festival.
The sun shone on Saturday and the spectators turned out in there thousands, to witness some fantastic kites, although the wind conditions were difficult all the fliers made an amazing effort to showcase as many kites as possible.
The weather was much better for flying on Sunday with a vast array of kites on display, the odd spits and spots of rain didn't dampen the crowd and the kite stalls and other traders reported a brisk days trading.
So we look forward to 2011 and once again a big thank you to all involved in the kite festival this year.
You can view a selection of photographs from the weekend on our Facebook Wall and flickr sites.
As in previous festivals the 2010 event showcased kites from the four corners of the globe including America, Canada, Japan, China, Germany, France Holland and Belgium as well as the best flyers from across the UK.
The festival had as usual that unique ability to engage and enable all ages to take part; anyone can fly a kite. A special arena for members of the public to fly their own or made in the workshop kites was onsite.
Alongside the various demonstrations in the arena a whole host of other attractions, food and drink, entertainment, music and kite stalls specialising in kite equipment, clothes and other accessories were a big hit with the public. A fantastic day was had by all, the sun shone and the wind although not fantastic meant some kites managed to take to the air!
We look forward to seeing you all next year
